Stark Raving
Entertainment Weekly posted a story about next year's Iron Man movie starring Robert Downey, Jr. That right there is the actual Iron Man suit from the movie designed by Stan Winston, who created, among many, many other creatures and effects, the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park.
Would you look at that armor? It's beautiful. It's what the armor looks like in the comics but with its best aspects enhanced. Like the Spider-Man suit in the movies. And I think it looks better than the comics, just like the Spidey movie suit. They got it right.
Now, the opposite of getting it right...
Getting a Rise
The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer Final Trailer
Go ahead and watch it.
This trailer hit the Interwebbings a couple of days ago. Since then, there's been a largely positive response and even some wild praise going hand in hand with some naive speculation that possibly this movie won't suck like the first one.
Did I watch the same trailer they did? First of all, trailers are meant to misleading. They are trying to sell you something, often a lemon. That's the function of a trailer, which is why I don't get excited over them. The movie is all that matters. The trailer is just a sales pitch, and often a total fucking snowjob.
You may disagree but to me, the movie being described in this new Fantastic Four trailer doesn't even look good, much less worthy of sudden anticpation of the possibility the movie won't blow. Rise of the Silver Surfer looks like shit. The Surfer looks like crap up close. The action and the story look and sound dumb.
And then there is Jessica Alba.

What the fuck did they do to her? She looks unreal, like she's made of CGI. She reminds me of that horrible CGI creature/pet they gave the daughter in the Lost in Space movie 9 years ago. Remember that thing? Oh you don't? Good. Point is, this is Jessica Alba! How do you take one of the most beautiful girls in the world and make her look inhuman? Why would you do that?
Seriously, the movie looks terrible to me. The X-Men: The Last Stand trailer last year was a total snow job that made you think the movie would be just like X2. We all know how that turned out. And those clips in that trailer were way better than these for Fantastic Four. Atrocious.
