Super Insults

Superman II was on HDNet Movies yesterday so I watched it in glorious 1080i.  You know what one of the best things about Superman I and II is? All the name calling.  It's fantastic.  Everybody is insulting each other left and right.  You just don't hear these kinds of  insults in today's superhero movies.

Lex Luthor calls the three Kryptonians "dummies" because they don't know how to use a doorknob.

When the President tells General Zod that there's one man on Earth who will never kneel before him, Zod replies: "Who is this imbecile?"

Of course, Zod calls Superman "a coward" right to his face.  Later, there's this famous exchange:

Zod: "This "Superman" is nothing of the kind. I've discovered his weakness.  He cares.  He actually cares for these Earth people."
Ursa: "Like pets!"
Zod: "I suppose so."
Ursa: "Sentimental idiot!"

Superman actually has the best insults.  Superman calls Lex Luthor "a diseased maniac", "a poisonous snake", and "a lying weasel."  Clark says to the guy who beat him up in the diner, "Gee, that's funny.  I've never seen garbage eat garbage before."  Weasel?  Garbage?  Superman is a Gorilla Monsoon fan.  Or maybe it's the other way around.

If only Superman had called Lois a fountain of misinformation.
